Q-Industries Honored As ‘Small Business of the Year’ by DC Government
Interactive firm recognized for achievement, growth and commitment to excellence
Washington, DC – July 31, 2008 – Q-Industries, developer of websites and advanced Internet-based applications has been selected as the 2008 Small Business of the Year by the Washington, DC Economic Partnership & the Government of the District of Columbia.
“The goal of the BusinessPremier Small Business Awards is to recognize outstanding local small businesses that are contributing to the District of Columbia,” said Steve Moore, President & CEO of The Washington, DC Economic Partnership. “Q-Industries was selected as the Business of the Year due to its innovation and demonstrated growth potential.”
Founded in 1999 at the cusp of the tech market meltdown, Q-Industries survived as many firms closed or were absorbed by larger companies. Drawing on its strong roots in custom application development, the company prospered by taking on complex web and software development projects, evolving into a full-service interactive firm that builds ecommerce, social networking, web 2.0, and Internet-based processes that help organizations run their operations. From 2004 to 2007, Q’s revenues and employees more than tripled.“We believe small businesses art the heart and soul of a city’s business and social fabric so we’re thrilled to be recognized for this honor in a city where it’s easy to be overlooked,” said Tim Neill, CEO & President of Q-Industries. “DC flavors everything we do… half of our employees live here and over three quarters of our business comes from the metro area. Having expanded and moved within DC five times in four years, we’ve clearly benefited from the decision to stay here and grow,” Neill added.
Q was chosen for the award by representatives from the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development and the business community from those companies that have been in business for more than three years with fewer than 50 employees.
The 1st Annual WDCE BusinessPremier Awards and release of the Doing Business in DC Guidebook will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Willard InterContinental Hotel. For more information and to register, go to: http://www.wdcep.com/index1.php?pageId=91
